La Roca A team girls 09 after last game in Vegas March 24, 2019 |
Cami just competed in her first out of state tournament last weekend in Las Vegas. The girls were so excited for this and had such a blast together, since we were in the same hotel as most of the team, so it was nice for the girls to just chill together and play outside of soccer. They got some good bonding time in that was much needed. The soccer part of the trip was rough though. They played against tough teams like one from Southern California that have soccer outdoors year round. We play indoors in the winter on a field about half the size of the outdoor fields. Cami's team didn't win any of the 3 games they played, and it was very discouraging as well as educating for the girls. I think it was good preparation for this Spring season.
Cami is super into sports. She also enjoys going to tumbling, and hopes to begin taking dance again if she can fit it in.
So I was curious how she would feel about soccer after this trip in Vegas. About 2 years ago, she was asked by the owner of the dance studio to compete in dance. So she was trying to decide if she wanted to do comp dance or soccer. I asked her to rate her sports from 1-10 by how much she loves them. She rated dance at 8, tumbling at a 10, and soccer at 100 haha! This girl likes her some soccer. So she began the road to competition soccer. She made the B team in her first year in La Roca Soccer, and last year tried out again for Wasatch Soccer Club as well as La Roca. It was fun making the Wasatch team (because she didn't make it the previous year) but she made the A team for La Roca, which is more competitive, so she definitely wanted La Roca. Plus the cute red head, Marley, is one of her best friends and neighbors here, and of course they wanted to be on the same team again. They've done dance and tumbling together as well, before they began this soccer ride.
So yesterday, I curiously asked Cami where everything rates now. Tumbling is now down to 8 (she's switching gyms back to where she took dance and tumbling before trying out a new gym this year, and will probably enjoy it more there, she says). Dance is back up to 10. And soccer? "A thousand", she says. All these rough losses didn't get this girl down! She's heading into spring season of soccer in full swing, or kick, I should say :) Vamos, La Roca!
