This Mom is Just a Little Proud

Cami loves dancing.  However, she didn't want to do it on stage.  I wanted so much for her to be in a dance class, but I wasn't sure how it would go because of this stage thing.  So we went in to register her for dance last summer to find out if she has to dance on stage to be in a class.  They said that she didn't.  However, I told Cami that I wouldn't be buying the beautiful costume that the dancers get that perform on stage.  It would be her choice (Inside I was dying because I selfishly want SO MUCH to watch my princess dance on stage!)
About 2 months ago, Cami was put in the front row of her dance group because, she said, her teacher told her she was doing a very good job.  Although pleased, I was concerned because I knew that she wasn't planning to go on stage and I didn't want to mess anything up for them.  I talked to her teacher about it, and somewhere between the teacher and Cami, they had decided that Cami was good with going on stage now.  Yipee!!
So tonight, about 3 months after she began dance in September, I went to pick up Cami from dance.  I brought our new tiny camcorder, just for fun, in case I got there early enough to record the last part of their dance.  I got there just in time, and began recording through the window.  At the end of the dance, Cami got in front of all the dancers and stood, holding her right leg high in the air.  After the dance I thanked her teacher and asked her what that was about.  She told me that they had tryouts 2 weeks ago, and they picked Cami to do the last solo part.  Oh can I tell you that I'm so excited!?  This is Cami's first year of taking dance and she's a star!  So proud!  We went out for ice cream to celebrate.  I think we'll have ice cream again after her performance in the Spring YIPEEE!!!
